On September 26 and 27, the Edmonton International Film Festival will be screening a very special film documenting a 28 person band made up of participants for the Goodwill of Southern Florida employment programs.
Western Canada Premiere! For Once in my Life is the incredible, inspirational true story about a band of singers and musicians who are all faced with a wide range of mental and physical disabilities. This SXSW 2010 Audience Award Winning documentary is an all-access look at this amazing group of people – all of whom share one common dream: to make great music. Throughout it all, we are given a glimpse into their struggles and triumphs, and the challenges they each face on the way to becoming true musicians, performing to large – and very enthusiastic - audiences. With passionate concert footage and intimate behind-the-scenes glimpses into the band member's lives, the film paints a heart-warming portrait of what people with disabilities can do when given a chance.
