Calgary, AB (May 4, 2017) – Calgarians can thrift shop and drop their donations at Goodwill’s newest location at Beacon Heights starting May 12. Goodwill Beacon Heights is the biggest Goodwill store in the city and it’s located right next to the busy Beacon Hill shopping area in the NW. When Calgarians donate and shop at Goodwill they provide meaningful jobs for Calgarians with disabilities in our Calgary stores. The new Beacon Heights store is also home to Goodwill’s new Training and Career Development Centre. “What’s unique about Goodwill’s Training and Career Development Centre is it provides hands-on training in retail services at our Beacon Heights store to prepare Calgarians with disabilities for jobs at Calgary businesses,” said Dale Monaghan, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Alberta. It’s the first time that Goodwill Industries of Alberta will offer a retail-training program in Calgary. It’s been five years since Goodwill opened a store in Calgary – the Chinook store. The Goodwill Beacon Heights store opens 9 am May 12. The media availability at the grand opening on Friday is at 11:30 am. However, we’d be glad to accommodate media interview requests, in store or in studio, leading up to and during opening day. The Beacon Heights location is about 20,000 sq ft and is staffed by 60 employees.
