Goodwill & The Mustard Seed
Press Release & Media Availability Goodwill Industries of Alberta and The Mustard Seed Edmonton AB (June 3, 2021) – Volunteer placements have been in a...
Giving Tuesday took place on November 30, and typically this day encourages the community to support a local non-profit organization so they can continue to create change and in turn, give right back to that same community.
This year at Goodwill, we wanted to switch the script. Every day, we are lucky enough to have dedicated Albertans shop with us and donate with us in an effort to not only find thrift treasures but to create employment opportunities for those with disabilities. For this reason, WE wanted to give back to YOU.
Across the province, we set up free hot chocolate at all of our donation centres as a small token of gratitude for helping make an impact in the lives of others! It was one of the best parts of our year, as so many surprised faces enjoyed this unexpected treat and shared their own thanks for our organization.
On top of this sweet surprise, we decided to give back some gift cards as an extended THANK YOU for dropping by our stores on Giving Tuesday. We were able to surprise 30 lucky winners across Alberta with Goodwill gift cards and swag!
We can never thank our community enough for the support they show us day in and day out, but we will do our best by highlighting employment achievements and our Career Connections graduates. You've all helped create a safe and inclusive space for our patrons to learn, grow, and lead dignified lives! And finally, as we head into the thick of the holiday season, let us not forget little acts of kindness can change a person's whole day. Like this handwritten Thank You card that was given to the Varsity Goodwill team by a shopper.
Be kind, be thoughtful, and be grateful. Happy Holidays and thank you for making 2021 a year filled with resilience and GOOD.
