Thrift and the arts are coming together this April 15-23 for a live-action telling of The Wind in the Willows! Prepare to be taken back to your childhood with the local theatre group, Untold Stories Theatre & Morpheus Theatre, in the riotous comedy The Wind in the Willows! Tickets are now available for this friendly-for-all play taking place at The Pump House Theatre located at 2140 Pumphouse Ave SW, Calgary.
Based on Kenneth Grahame’s best-selling classic of children’s literature, and with a book by Oscar-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and songs by Olivier Award-winning composers and lyricists George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, The Wind in the Willows is a wild, thrill-seeking tale about what it truly means to be a friend.
Follow Mole, Rat, Badger, and the impulsive Mr. Toad, whose insatiable need for speed will land him in serious trouble. Full of humor, wit, a gorgeous, soaring score, and heartwarming lessons of friendship, The Wind in the Willows is the perfect fit for audiences everywhere.
Goodwill Industries of Alberta is proud to be a part of this wonderful reenactment by supporting this local community group with items for their play, from costumes to props, this partnership highlights creative sustainability at its finest!
The term sustainability covers more than your first thought of green initiatives or repurposing and recycling but also includes financial sustainability and access to variety. As you might imagine, outfitting a cast is no easy task, but utilizing thrift clothing is a great way to maximize a limited budget, save time on sewing costumes, and gives you access to a variety of clothing through the ages.

Not only does this partnership create more ease for this community theatre group, but it will also divert items from the landfill. Instead of creating new clothing for this one production, the Untold Stories Theatre group can now use these items for their play, wash them and donate them right back to Goodwill for someone else to enjoy and create with.
